Indiana Water Quantity Planning Report

March 30, 2015

A recent study from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce titled "Modernizing the State’s Approach to a Critical Resource" identifies the importance of monitoring how we utilize water in Indiana. The report analyzes the most current data on water resources, geology, and economic trends to understand how Indiana is currently managing water as well as providing a framework for future planning efforts. We are fortunate in northern Indiana to have numerous surface water resources and robust, self-recharging aquifers that supply million gallons of water per day to our region; however population growth and lack of efficient planning could potentially exhaust our currently self-sustaining resources. Therefore it is important we look at how we are currently allocating resources in our area, so we can sustain them for future uses.
